John Craigie with Hollis Peach - SOLD OUT

John Craigie performing "I Am California," a song from his new album, Capricorn in Retrograde... Just Kidding. John Craigie is a Portland-based folk musician who tours almost endlessly-his true home, he says, is on the road. His shows feature incredible storytelling and a wealth of original songs both humorous and heartfelt.

“…the lovechild of John Prine and Mitch Hedberg with a vagabond troubadour edge.” – The Stranger

“The record opens with the shanty-like Dylan-meets-Prine number “Virgin Guitar,” which displays Craigie’s talent for understated singing coupled with poetic lyrics.” – The Portland Tribune

“Craigie’s latest, “I Am California,” is haunting, poetic, and just how a longing for California should sound. Draped in nostalgia and covered in memories, Craigie paints a beautiful homage to the Golden State, with the assistance of singer Gregory Alan Isakov.” – Impose Magazine

If John Prine and Mitch Hedberg had a baby, the resulting product would resemble something very close to Portland, OR singer-songwriter John Craigie. Musically comparable to Prine, with the humor and wit of Hedberg, the humble, gracious, and hilarious Craigie is one of the best storytellers of our time. It’s no wonder that Chuck Norris sends him fan mail, and Todd Snider brings him gifts on stage.

The vagabond troubadour has charmed audiences in all 50 states and throughout much of Europe, with a DIY spirit seldom seen these days. While touring solo and with the likes of Todd Snider, the Shook Twins, Nicki Bluhm, and ALO, Craigie has taken the stage at festivals, sold out venues, intimate house concerts, center camp at Burning Man and even Gregory Alan Isakov’s farm. Although based in Portland, Craigie’s true home is on the road, and just like that he’s on to the next town, playing and singing and telling stories to everyone who wants to listen.

John Craigie performs "Woodstock Baby" live at Mississippi Studios in Portland, OR on December 16th, 2015. Video by Brave Alice Productions, shot by Kristen Mico. Hollis Peach:

Drawing from diverse influences ranging from John Hartford, Joanna Newsom, Pete Seeger, Jim Henson, and Townes Van Zandt. Hollis Peach weaves evocative, mischievous and deeply personal stories in the American vernacular of song and story.  This unassuming, yet highly original duo is currently touring in promotion of their debut release, “Sometimes We Feel the Same”. Founding members of the rootsy folk orchestra Patchy Sanders, songwriter and guitarist, Dan Sherrill along with his singing partner, Jacqui Aubert, create a finely nuanced musical pairing.

Though deceptively simple, their musical arrangements and harmonies are lush, intricate, and often hypnotic in their elegance. Kenneth Pattengale, of the Grammy-nominated The Milk Carton Kids, describes Dan as, “…a monster guitar player.” And this is true, as Dan’s phrasing comes out in the cleverest and subtlest of ways. When all is said and done, Hollis Peach's music is a powerhouse of subtle gestures and graceful storytelling.
